Goma starts from midnight on New Year’s Day. It brings you good luck. A lot of visitors come for one-year fortune.

Sanpo-Kojin festival

First Fudo prayer meeting

Pray for well-being. Zenzai (sweet red bean soup) will be served.

Setsubun Hoshi Matsuri Goma Prayer

Goma prayer starts on February 2 from 12 AM.
Many people throughout Japan visit our temple, wishing for their good health because the talisman offered on that day has special power.

Katsuragi Konpon Gyosho
Motosanjyoga-dakemine Memorial Day

Climbing season for Motosanjyoga-dake starts on the day. In front of the statue of En no Gyoja, various practices such as “Arino Towatari”, “Nshino Nozoki”, and “Tainai Kuguri” are per-formed.

Shinryoku Yamabushi Festival

Saito Goma Prayer is hold twice in the morning and in the afternoon. Mochimaki (an event of scattering rice cakes for visitors) and Fire-Walking Ritual are held.

Ordination ceremony and lectures in spring

In Shipporyuji, we regularly hold ordination ceremony for Inunaki Shugendo.
The ceremony and lectures last two days at the main hall and Shugendo Hall. Also,
monks climb the mountain and practice in waterfall.

On Doyo No Ushi No Hi (Midsummer Day of the Ox)

Cucumber blessing

Special prayer secretly handed down by Kobo Daishi is performed.
Wishing for the good health by using cucumbers.

Buddhist lantern festival. Jizo Festival (a memorial service for an aborted fetus)

Otaki Festival Takigyo Goma Prayer

Takigyo Goma prayer at Gyoja no Taki where En no Gyoja and Kobo Daishi practiced.
Many devotees visit the mountain for waterfall training.

Wishing for the prevention of dementia and for well-being for Fudo Myo-o.

Wishing for cure of sore feet and back pain

Memorial service for ancestors (Memorial services for animals)

Goma prayer at Tomogashima

We visit Tomogashima, one of the sutra mounds of 28 Sutra Mounds of Katsuragi and hold Saito Goma prayer at Kurikara Fudo Myo-o Shrine. (prayer reception available)

The first Saturday of November

Service at temples which enshrines Seven Dei-ties of Good Luck along the Nankai Railway

Goma prayer and Fire-Walking Ritual are held in front of Migawari Fudo. Many people come to receive goshuin stamp and good fortune.
